Young Women Mentorship Program (YWGLS)

The Young Women Mentorship Program (YWGLS) under the Rose Namayanja Foundation's Governance and Leadership theme is a pioneering initiative aimed at empowering young women and girls through structured mentorship. Launched as a pilot project, YWGLS is designed to guide young women on their journey towards leadership, career success, and social impact.

The Journey Begins

In 2022, we embarked on this transformative journey by selecting a diverse group of young women from various regions, including student leaders from the Uganda National Students Association, the National Youth Council, universities like MUBS and UCU, and districts such as Nakaseke, Mbale, and Sironko. We brought together 14 young women who will be our first cohort, participating in a three-month mentorship program.

Empowering Through Mentorship

The YWGLS project offers a unique mentorship path that provides young women with the tools and knowledge they need to excel in their chosen fields. This includes career guidance, leadership training, and personal development workshops. Our mentors, including notable figures such as Mr. Joseph Munyangabo and Hon. Rose Namayanja Nsereko, dedicate their time and expertise to shape the futures of these young women.

Community and Partner Engagement

Although the trial phase had minimal community involvement due to budget constraints, we strategically selected participants from our previous Youth Parliament activities. This approach allowed us to refine our selection process and plan for more extensive community engagement in future iterations. The enthusiastic participation of these young women, like Ms. Kabaruka Mariam from Nakaseke District, highlights the program's potential to empower rural girls and foster leadership at the community level.

Overcoming Challenges and Celebrating Successes

Launching a new initiative always comes with challenges, such as the logistical issues we faced and the need for clearer objectives. However, these obstacles have only strengthened our resolve. Our successes, including mobilizing a diverse group of participants and receiving support from key partners, underscore the program's potential. With each challenge overcome, we refine our approach to ensure greater impact and broader reach.

The Young Women Mentorship Program is not just about empowering individuals; it's about creating ripple effects that benefit entire communities. By supporting this initiative, you are investing in the future leaders of our society. Your contribution will help us expand the program, reach more young women, and provide them with the mentorship they need to thrive.

Join us in this journey of empowerment and transformation. Be a part of their story and help us build a future where every young woman has the opportunity to lead, succeed, and make a difference. Your support can change lives, one mentorship at a time.
