The Rose Namayanja Foundation (RNF), in partnership with Faraja Africa Foundation, has successfully convened the Second Sitting of the 8th Central Regional Youth Parliament, bringing together young leaders from Luwero, Nakaseke, and Nakasongola Districts for a day of constructive dialogue, policy debate, and civic engagement.
The Youth Parliament provides a platform for young people to develop leadership skills, engage on issues affecting their communities, and present solutions that contribute to Uganda’s social and economic transformation. Through structured parliamentary discussions, the initiative enables young leaders to understand governance processes while strengthening their confidence to participate in decision-making.
During the sitting, youth delegates engaged in extensive debates on critical issues affecting young people today, including employment and economic empowerment, digital literacy, access to quality healthcare and education, responsible use of technology, and accountability in public service delivery.
The discussions demonstrated young people's ability to analyse challenges within their communities and propose practical interventions. Delegates highlighted the need for increased investment in skills development, entrepreneurship opportunities, innovation, and stronger platforms that allow youth voices to contribute to national development conversations.
The quality and depth of debate reaffirmed that young Ugandans are not merely beneficiaries of development programmes but are active partners capable of identifying challenges and driving solutions within their communities.
Speaking during the sitting, participants emphasised the importance of expanding opportunities for youth participation in governance, civic education, and community leadership. They noted that empowering young people with knowledge, skills, and platforms for engagement is essential in building accountable and inclusive communities.
The Rose Namayanja Foundation continues to prioritise youth empowerment through leadership development, education support, skills training, and initiatives that promote active citizenship. Through strategic partnerships, such as its collaboration with the Faraj Africa Foundation, RNF remains committed to creating opportunities for young people to develop their potential and contribute meaningfully to Uganda’s development journey.
