Biddabugya Health Centre III, a lifeline for residents of Kasangombe Sub-county and its neighbouring communities, has undergone a remarkable transformation. Established in 1988, this facility was originally designed to offer essential health services to the local population. However, with limited space and resources, the centre was only able to care for one expectant mother per day and admit just two additional patients due to severe constraints.
Today, thanks to a major renovation led by the Rose Namayanja Foundation (RNF), in partnership with residents, Biddabugya Health Centre III has been reimagined as a state-of-the-art facility equipped to meet the healthcare needs of the community. The new facility now boasts a paediatric ward, maternity ward, labour suite, operating theatre, laboratory, and more—expanding its capacity to deliver comprehensive and timely care.
A New Era in Maternal and Paediatric Health
The revitalised health centre is fully equipped to support the dedicated health workers who serve the community. With the additional space and resources, Biddabugya can now handle up to 120 deliveries per month, providing safe, reliable care to mothers and their newborns. The presence of a fully equipped labour suite and maternity ward ensures that expectant mothers receive the best possible care close to home, reducing the risk of complications associated with travelling long distances for healthcare.
Modern Facilities and Equipment to Serve the Community
RNF’s investment in Biddabugya Health Centre III has not only expanded its physical space but also introduced essential medical equipment, allowing healthcare workers to perform their duties more effectively. The addition of a well-equipped laboratory provides faster and more accurate diagnostic services, supporting timely and precise treatments.
This transformation, costing over 500 million shillings, represents a substantial commitment to healthcare in Nakaseke District. The facility now stands as a beacon of hope, offering improved healthcare access and quality services that will benefit thousands of residents.
An Ambulance for Lifesaving Support
In addition to the facility upgrades, RNF has provided an ambulance to Biddabugya Health Centre III, a critical addition that will facilitate emergency transport to larger referral hospitals when necessary. This service is particularly valuable for expectant mothers and other critical patients who require immediate care beyond what the local facility can offer. The ambulance will help reduce response times and ensure that patients receive life-saving interventions as quickly as possible.
Building a Healthier Future with RNF
The revitalisation of Biddabugya Health Centre III reflects the Rose Namayanja Foundation’s dedication to strengthening rural healthcare systems in Uganda. By equipping the centre to provide high-quality maternal, paediatric, and general healthcare, RNF is empowering health workers and giving families in Nakaseke access to the services they deserve.
This transformation would not have been possible without the unwavering support of community residents, who worked alongside RNF to realise this vision. Together, they have created a healthcare facility that will serve generations to come.
