In the heart of Uganda, a story emerges that embodies hope, resilience, and the transformative power of education. This is the story of Nakayanja Faith, a 17-year-old girl whose journey from a small village in Nakaseke District to becoming one of the top performers under the Rose Namayanja Foundation (RNF) is a testament to the profound impact of giving and community support.
Born on January 26, 2006, in Kalagi Mpwedde Parish, Nakaseke District, Faith’s early years were marked by humble beginnings. Her family later moved to Gala Cell, Katikamu Ward in Wobulenzi Town Council, Luweero District, where she currently resides. Despite the challenges that came with relocating and adapting to a new environment, Faith’s determination to excel never wavered.
Her educational journey began at St. Jude Wobulenzi Nursery School, where she attended from Baby Class to Primary Two. She then moved on to Wobulenzi Trust Day and Boarding School, where her hard work and dedication bore fruit, as she scored an impressive 8 aggregates in her Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).
It was at this pivotal moment that the Rose Namayanja Foundation stepped in, offering Faith a full bursary to attend St. Noah Zana Girls Secondary School. This opportunity was a game-changer for Faith, as it allowed her to continue her education without the financial burdens that often hinder so many bright students in similar circumstances.
Throughout her time at St. Noah Zana, Faith continued to shine. In 2023, she was among the best students at the school, scoring 12 aggregates in her Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exams. Her academic excellence secured her a place in Senior Five, where she is currently studying Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics (BCM) on a full bursary provided by RNF.
Faith’s aspirations are deeply rooted in her desire to give back to her community. She dreams of becoming a doctor, motivated by the wish to care for her ageing parents and to serve her community in Nakaseke District and beyond. Her story is not just one of personal success; it is a beacon of hope for many other young girls who aspire to rise above their circumstances through education.
Faith’s parents, Sseremba Willy and Nakkazi Erinah, are immensely proud of their daughter. They speak of her with admiration, noting her unwavering dedication to her studies and her passion for her Seventh-day Adventist faith. Faith finds joy in church services and songs, and she is deeply affected by any discord within her family, showing sensitivity and empathy that further highlight her compassionate nature.
Faith’s story is a powerful reminder of why the work of the Rose Namayanja Foundation matters. It underscores the importance of providing educational opportunities to young girls, who, like Faith, have the potential to transform their lives and their communities. However, this transformation is not possible without the support of donors and well-wishers.
We invite you to be part of Faith’s story and many other stories like hers. Your contribution to the Rose Namayanja Foundation can help us continue to provide bursaries, mentorship, and the necessary resources to deserving students. Together, we can create a ripple effect of hope and change that extends far beyond individual success stories.
