25 RNF RECIPIENTS MEET THE DEMAND OF THE FASHION MARKET

After an extensive two months of training in tailoring and garment design, 25 RNF beneficiaries received their certificates at a well-attended graduation ceremony on the 2nd of June, 2022.

The graduation was organized by the Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI) under their skills development project. The RNF beneficiaries had been selected from the different sub-counties that make up Nakaseke District.

In this training they were taught tailoring skills such as cutting patterns, dress-cutting and making prototype garments – that is putting together all the techniques they learned at UIRI.

In her speech, the RNF Founder and Director, Hon Namayanja Rose Nsereko appealed to the graduands to put into practice what they have learnt while at the institute. This she said will enable the graduands to be abreast with whatever knowledge they gain.

“Let us put into practice what we have learnt, it’s only then that we shall continue to learn, and where the need is, you can also continue upgrading,” Hon Namayanja said.

She further applauded the UIRI management for accommodating the graduands and imparting valuable skills within a short period.

“For you to be able to train someone within eight weeks to produce such high-quality items is incredible. I would link to thank the UIRI management for making this possible,” Hon Namayanja said.

She also revealed plans of establishing a skills development and production centre in Nakaseke that will provide textile machinery for the beneficiaries to be able to produce garments.

The Rose Namayanja foundation was established on four core principles which include; education, health, socioeconomic empowerment as well as leadership and governance.

The foundation has been partnering with other government agencies like the Directorate of Industrial Training(DIT), Private Sector Foundation Uganda(PSFU) and the private sector to equip youth with skills through training as an alternative to the formal education system.
