THE ROSE NAMAYANJA FOUNDATION, INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE PARTNER IN SKILLING THE YOUTH

The Rose Namayanja foundation and Uganda Industrial Research Institute have partnered to empower youth through skilling as demanded by the current job market.

According to Hon Namayanja Rose Nsereko, the Director and Founder of the foundation, the two have decided to team up after realizing that the job market shuns employing students fresh from universities and other tertiary institutions due to the lack of employable skills required in production.

“It is against this background that we have partnered with the Uganda Industrial Research Institute to prepare our youth both in the formal and informal education system to prepare them for jobs available in industries as well as equip them with skills to start up their businesses,” Hon Namayanja said yesterday as he interacted with the institute’s leadership in Namanve Mukono district.

The institute has embarked on a two months inauguration of 25 young people from the foundation into the textile industry.

After the induction, Namayanja is opportunistic that the trainees will come out well equipped to enter the industry of textile with the necessary knowledge for production.

On his part, Mr Denis Lindo, the Team Leader at the foundation, says it is only through such initiatives that government can reduce unemployment and subsistence production among the 39% of the population and ensure socio-economic transformation of communities.

The Rose Namayanja foundation was established on four core principles which include; education, health, socioeconomic empowerment as well as leadership and governance.

The foundation has been partnering with other government agencies like the Directorate of Industrial Training(DIT), Private Sector Foundation Uganda(PSFU) and the private sector to equip youth with skills through training as an alternative to the formal education system.

The foundation leadership also revealed that beneficiaries not only acquire life skills to transform their lives but will also undergo mentorship about the right ideology and mindset on how to alleviate poverty and subsistence production.
