NAMAYANJA CHALLENGES YOUTHS ON POSITIVE INTERNET USAGE

The Director Rose Namayanja Foundation (RNF), Hon. Namayanja Rose Nsereko has called up youths to desist from negatively using the internet but instead positively use it to grow themselves, especially during this COVID-19 pandemic.

While speaking to youth leaders at a conference held at Uganda Christian University in Mukono, Namayanja challenged youths and all those responsible to encourage positive internet usage, claiming that short of that, the youths may copy morals and habits that are strange to our society.

“We need to guide and skill the young people to effectively use social media for the good. As a country and as institutions, we should forge a better on how we can recent internet penetration to use,” Namayanja said.

In addition, she pledged to continue working towards uplifting the mindsets of the youth to focus on their personal development and enhancement of society.

“As a foundation, we are working towards enhancing the young population with soft skills that will enhance their lives,” she added.
Namayanja added that the youth ought to take advantage of the pandemic break off from school to equip themselves with soft skills that will position them better in the job market.

The conference attracted youth leaders from various institutions and civil society and focused on bridging gaps between students and the policy stakeholders while coming up with a way forward of the education system and capturing the voices of the young people.
The conference ran under the theme; the impact of COVID19 on the education sector in Uganda.

The event was attended by among other development partners like USAID, FARAJA Africa, the European Union, Uganda National Students Association and the Ministry of Gender among others.
